The INWR was first conceived while at the FILA Advanced GR Coaches Course in Almaty, Kazakhstan in 2007, as an organization that could be a source of scientific expertise for our sport, provide a means for collaboration and collegial support, as well as providing important camaraderie in our work that relates to wrestling. Further development took place in 2009 while in Komotini, Greece for International Congress on Physical Education and Sport and the Special Symposium: The sport of wrestling today and its development in the future. In 2010 we helped to organize the FILA Scientific Congress for the 2010 World Wrestling Championships in Moscow, and then the same for Istanbul in 2011, Budapest 2013, Tashkent 2014 and Las Vegas 2015. In 2011 we have launched the publication of the International Journal of Wrestling Science. Our group has grown to over 500 academics, scientists, doctors and wrestling professionals, from 89 countries who are involved with the sport of wrestling (see Member’s Directory). Our efforts are responsible for the establishment of a Scientific Commission within United World Wrestling (UWW). It is the largest academic support group for any sport in the world! I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the International Network of Wrestling Researchers for its excellent work and the remarkable growth of your membership with a truly world-wide representation. Your publication, the International Journal of Wrestling Science is a scholarly work that is contributing to an understanding of all facets of wrestling. The affiliation between the UWW and the INWR has contributed to the establishment of a Scientific Commission within UWW.
I believe that from our recent challenges, we in wrestling have reacted in a positive manner that is something of a rebirth. UWW looks to the scientists and sport professionals from the INWR to continue this phenomenon through providing scientific expertise in presenting solutions to the modern problems we face. Your work can improve international collaboration and will be used to advance the development of our sport in all areas of the world. Bravo!
J’aimerais féliciter l’International Network of Wrestling Researchers pour son excellent travail, pour l’augmentation du nombre de ses membres et pour la représentativité mondiale de ce réseau. Votre publication, le Journal International de Science de la Lutte, est un travail académique qui contribue à la compréhension de toutes les facettes de la lutte. La collaboration entre la UWW et l’INWR a par ailleurs contribué à la création d’une Commission Scientifique au sein de la FILA.
Je pense que face à nos récents challenges, la lutte a su réagir de façon positive et a vécu une sorte de renaissance. La UWW doit également se tourner vers les scientifiques et les professionnels du sport de l’INWR pour poursuivre ce travail et trouver, grâce à son expertise scientifique, des solutions aux problèmes modernes auxquels nous faisons face. Я бы хотел, пользуясь случаем, поздравить Международную организацию исследователей в области спортивной борьбы с прекрасной работой и заметным ростом числа членов этого объединения, которое теперь представлено по всему миру. Ваш печатный орган, International Journal of Wrestling Science (Международный журнал научных исследований в спортивной борьбе) – это научный труд, который способствует пониманию всех граней борьбы. Объединение UWW и INWR внесло свой вклад в создание научной комиссии в рамках UWW.
